North Liberty, Iowa is located 10 minutes north of Iowa City in the Corridor Area between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids.  With easy access to both Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, North Liberty has become a very sought-after place to live.  This once almost non existent community, where the population dipped as low as 150 in the past 50 years, now has a population of about 7,500 people and is still growing.  The citizens of North Liberty are dedicated to cultivating a rich environment for business and personal growth.

North Liberty is minutes from the Coralville Lake Reservoir.  It is a 4,900 acre area which offers hiking, boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing, camping and much more.  Coralville Lake has reservable shelters that are equipped with electrical outlets, grills and most are near running water, restrooms, and playgrounds.  Coralville Lake does not only bring in visitors who wish to use the facilities for entertainment but people also visit to see the history that was uncovered by the 1993 summer floods in Iowa.  There was an overflow of the emergency spillway which lasted 28 days.  The floodwaters ripped out a road and campground, and scoured away as much as 15 feet of glacial-age sediment to expose a remarkable expanse of 375 million year old fossiliferous bedrock.  Thousands of visitors followed the flood's wake.  The broad horizontal surfaces of limestone have provided the public with an opportunity to walk across an ancient sea floor and to see a clearly visible picture of life that thrived in the tropical waters that once covered interior regions of North America.

North Liberty Fun Days is held in Penn Meadows Park for one weekend during the month of June each year.  This event attracts many visitors who come to enjoy music and entertainment which include carnival rides, parades, bands, contests, and fireworks.

North Liberty is a part of the Iowa City Community School District.  New in 2006, North Liberty recently opened North Central Junior High for the students who reside in North Liberty.  There are two elementary schools, Van Allen and Penn.  Recently there have been talks of North Liberty building its own high school within the next 5-10 years.

The National Radio Astronom Observatory designs, builds and operates the world's most sophisticated and advanced radio telescopes.  Scientists from around the world use these powerful tools to study the Sun, planets, and other objects in our own solar system, as well as distant stars, galaxies, and other mysterious objects many millions, or even billions of light years away.  North Liberty is home to one of the antennas in this system and is used by many local educational institutions.  Students from the University of Iowa, as well as other local colleges and high schools often take tours the facility. The public is also welcome to visit during regular work hours. The technicians will be happy to answer questions and give quick tours if time allows.
